Canvas Course
Design
Using Canvas Design Tools, I helped edit and create elements for two college level courses to meet aesthetic and student needs.
For the Summer and Fall semesters at Utah State University, under the guidance of Dr. Deborah fields, I participated in the editing, research, and design of two courses - ITLS 3350 Intro to Computational Thinking and ITLS 6730 Games & Learning.
I utilized my knowledge and skills in UX/UI design, research, HTML & CSS and problem solving to help create and modify these courses to be ready for students to participate in the course. This entailed creating an intermediate HTML & CSS learning path to give more options for students to learn about computational thinking, and spending numerous hours researching video games across various platforms to build a list of game options for students in the ITLS 6730 Games & Learning course.
After the courses were created, I then participated in the ITLS 3350 Intro to Computational Thinking course as an undergraduate teaching fellow. This gave me the chance to see how students interact with the course, and the elements I created, and see where improvements could be made and how building a course with accessible, easy-to-understand information is imperative to students learning.
My work with Dr. Fields also resulted in my nomination and winning of both the Undergraduate Teaching Fellow Award for ITLS and the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services Undergraduate Teaching Fellow of the Year Award.
